Home loans and Urban type Housing supply will be expanded to stabilize citizens' residence

<< Back

The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs analyzed the current rental housing market in the Seoul Metropolitan Area, which shows a sign of recovery, and announced the following policy to stabilize the rental housing market. The policy is mainly focusing on removing demand and supply uncertainty and reducing burden on housing loan borrowers, especially low and middle income families.
The Ministry said that the recent increase in housing lease prices is not because of demand and supply uncertainty, but largely due to the recovery of housing lease prices in Gangnam where excessive supply of housing to lease last year caused sharp decrease in housing lease prices.
In addition, the recent expansion of traffic infrastructure in the Gyeonggi Area has shrunk the SMA into a one-day life zone, and will solve the problem of lacking housing supply in Gangnam since more people will move to the Gyeonggi Area.
《Policy》
◈ (For Demand)
It will expand the support of housing loans especially to houseless citizens to reduce the burden on lease prices and monthly housing payments.
It will announce prospective housing supply and operate a information center to remove supply and demand uncertainty.
  ◈ (For Supply)
It will ease the regulation on Urban-type housing and Officetels to increase their supply in Seoul and the SMA. It will expand national housing supply in the moving season.
