Sunjin Engineering & Architecture (CEO: Yoo, Sang Chun) announced that it has accepted to take part in designing and managing ‘Al Ghadeer’ Project in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates.
This is an exceptional case for a Korean company to be in charge of the entire process of such a big project, which ranges from master planning to designing, considering the fact that the Korean engineering companies have only designed a single building in the past.
While the overseas expansion has been slowed down due to the global economic crisis, Sunjin Engineering’s successful acquirement of such a big overseas project is expected to draw a positive influence on the potential overseas expansion to follow.
This project includes a various residential types such as villas, townhouses, and terrace houses, which covers an area of roughly 3,120,000 square meters and constructs about 7000 houses. The total cost for this project is estimated to $1.2 billion.
The Al Ghadeer residential complex will be built in the region called ‘Saih As Sideairah,’ which plays an important role as a hub to connect the midway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Many foreigners and professionals have shown interests as it is located near by Jebel Ali Airport, harbors, and the main highways.
The cost for designing and managing Al Ghadeer residential complex is estimated to 80 billion won ($64 million). As the planning begins this year, the actual construction is expected to start next year and the move-in will begin from 2013.
Sunjin Engineering is planning to expand the overseas projects up to 30% of its total businesses this year.
