Seoul City has eased the regulations on the remodeling of the old buildings. The practicable term of building remodeling has shortened from 20 years to 15 years. In addition, the enlargement scale has expanded from 10% to 30% of the total space. Furthermore, the floor increase which is restricted will be accepted when the new regulation applies.
This plan will improve the old buildings which undermine Seoul’s landscape. In addition, it is expected to enable the construction business and job creation that brings vitality to the stagnant economy.
Also, Seoul city plans to support building owners to switch building system into energy-saving system when they remodel their old buildings. Seoul will connect this plan with the Building Retrofit Project (BRP) which Seoul city has promoted preponderantly to attract energy-saving renovation.
