Why ATTEND?

It is currently estimated that there is around US$1.5 trillion of institutional investment in real estate globally, whereas the global yearly turnover of the investment market in normal conditions is approximately US$400 billion.

Still the pension fund markets with the most capital to spend on real estate are the mature pension markets, such as the US, UK, Germany, the Netherlands, etc. However, Asian economies are improving their welfare systems which are creating a major new source of capital for real estate investment. In addition, real estate acquisitions by Asian investors have been recently on the rise. We witnessed Korean, Chinese and Malaysian investors becoming more active globally and others are following suit. This trend clearly reflects that the previously bond-centric Asian institutional investors are revising their asset allocation and increasing their real estate allocations.

The level of sophistication is increasing rapidly and investors have started to engage in more advanced portfolio management practices to prevent from excessive concentration of the risk.

Those changes will be substantial in the global setting and also impact current market practices. In order to highlight Asian investors’ intentions and challenges “REC Institutional Investments 2011 will address the following issues: REC Institutional Investments 2011 will address investors’ concerns and address the following questions:
